Rangiora High School was established in 1884. It has over 130 years’ tradition of excellence in both academic and sporting areas. The school is a co-educational government school with a roll of 1800 students. It is a large ‘city style’ school in a safe rural environment.

The school is situated in the large town of Rangiora, just 30 minutes from Christchurch city and the international airport. The town has many facilities, shopping centres, heated pool, 3 cinemas, large library, takeaway food, cafes, restaurants and an excellent bus service into the city

The school is from Year 9 to Year 13 and has a large range of subjects such as English, Languages, Mathematics, Sciences, Social Sciences, Psychology, Hospitality, Music, Drama, Physical Education, Technology, Land based studies, Equine studies, Fine arts, Automotive engineering, Computer studies and Information processing. It has modern class rooms 3 gymnasiums, tennis and squash courts and large soccer fields.

There is a large farm on the campus so there are opportunities for horse riding, horse polo and animal studies as well.

International students are offered up to 12 hours per week of English Language to improve language skills and teach skills necessary for other subject areas. ESOL classes are from beginners to Level 2 NZEA.

A wide variety of summer and winter sports are offered as well as Adventure Education and Horse riding. Rugby, Basketball, Tennis, Volleyball and Football are all popular sports.

Students stay in local homestay families or on farms. All homestays are carefully chosen and assessed by the school.
